Aside from the commercials and the game itself, everyone knows the Super Bowl is all about the food.

It’s a well-known fact that the chicken wings are the undisputed hero of the Super Bowl menu. This was recently reinforced by the National Chicken Council confirming Americans will devour 1.3 billion wings this year alone. That’s an unfathomable amount of chicken.

But what is less known is that Super Bowl lovers everywhere are using the internet to add new recipes to their repertoire.

Behold: the Google Trends list of top recipes and searches associated with the Super Bowl. Because if you’re anything like us at 9Honey Kitchen, you’re insanely curious about what dish will be the centrepiece of each state’s Super Bowl feast.

The results were based on what people around the country are interested in making for this major sporting event. Google divided food items into categories: desserts/ dips, wings, chilli and ‘other’. Beer choices were ale, porter and India pale ale.

The verdict was that the West Coast had the strongest liking for sweet things, while the East Coast and Midwest were all about dips and salsa to accompany their juicy chicken wings. The top prize for dips went to the buffalo wing dip - no major surprise there.

See the Google Trends map below to scope out each state’s culinary preference.
