What flavour is Light and Tangy chips? One snack connoisseur may have figured it out
It's a question that has plagued Aussies for decades, and now we may finally have an answer – what is the real flavour of Thin's Light and Tangy chips?

But first: A history.
Aussie chip company Thins came out with its unique Light and Tangy flavour in the early 1990s, when the only chip flavours available here were salt and vinegar, plain, and chicken.
The flavour was an instant hit and still continues to be enjoyed four decades on.
But in all that time, no one has been able to crack the schoolyard mystery of what makes up the delicious flavour.
Many online has speculated it could be a combination of tomato and barbecue sauce flavours, while some believed it was similar to the Light Sour Cream flavour.
The ingredients list, as shown on Coles' website, reads: Potatoes, Vegetable Oil, Sugar, Salt, Whey Powder (Milk), Vegetable Powders (Onion, Tomato), Flavour, Spices and Herb, Buttermilk Powder (Milk), Flavour Enhancer (635).
Evans decided not to gatekeep the information and share the secret ingredient that completes the perfect balance of light and tangy, which turned out to be... paprika!

"Light' simply because of the light refreshing nature of the chip. 'Tangy' because of the onion and tomato," she explained.
She has since combined these flavours to create her own iteration of the famous chip flavour in the form of a tube of seasoning, which she says can be sprinkled over nuts, popcorn, and even toast.
Commenters had their minds blown by the revelation.

"This whole time I thought it was just the chicken flavour," said one commenter.
"I always found it to have a slight lemon paprika flavour, so there you go," added another.
