Heated debate over what to call the end slice of bread

It’s no secret that people have strong opinions about what certain foods should be called. From French fries to the creme egg– people can’t agree on the real name for food. And heavens forbid, you pronounce it wrong too.

In this case, it was the end slice of a loaf of bread that rocked the foundations of bread lovers everywhere.

According to actor Stephen Mangan, this divisive piece of bread is referred to as the heel.

Naturally, Twitter users slammed this statement and chimed in with their own opinions about what this piece is referred to. A Twitter storm erupted that involved multiple people revealing their descriptive names for the piece of bread.

Suffice to say, people got creative with their names for the end slice.

One man even threatened to leave his wife because she believed this was an acceptable piece of bread for making toast.

It’s impossible to neglect the fact that the name of this piece is relative to where you’re from. Also, that different breads tend to have different names for this slice.

But that doesn’t take away from the fact that for some of us this is the least impressive slice of the loaf, and signals the end of an era.
