In a video viewed more than 265,000 times, O'Toole reveals the secret to perfect fluffy rice is "the golden ratio," which uses volume to measure rice and water.

"This is the way I like to cook rice - there are loads of different methods but this is the way an old colleague of mine, Evelyn, showed me," she said in the video.

The golden ration is one cup of rice to one and a half cups of water, says the chef.

O'Toole begins her process by washing her rice and then letting it boil for three minutes.

"This might actually help me because I cannot cook rice for the life of me," one commenter said.

O'Toole, a Michelin-trained chef, has 1.5 million followers on TikTok, and often shares quick cooking hacks to her account, such as how to brown butter, chop shallots or peel ginger 'like a pro.'

O'Toole is said to be working on a cookbook, to be released in September 2021.

Disclaimer: this hack works best with jasmine or basmati rice. For brown rice or other short-grain rices, the timing required is longer.
