Waste not, want not is a saying close to every budget-savvy chef's heart, but it's a mentality that, when it comes to fan-favourite peanut butter, can be a cause for frustration.

Savoury and sweet snack- or meal-maker it may be, its stiff, sticky texture can make it hard to get every last spoonful out of the jar.

Thankfully, chef Rachel Mansfield has a simple, brilliant hack that can help with that. Watch above.

Posting to TikTok, Mansfield — who is a chef and a mum who posts mouth-watering recipes to the video-sharing platform — shared her secret to getting every last bit of peanut butter out of its peskily-shaped home.

It's quite simple. All you need is a spatula.

Showing a close-up shot of an almost empty peanut butter jar in the video, viewers can see remnants of peanut butter clinging to the jar's sides, though the container is mostly devoid of the nutty deliciousness.

Mansfield then picks up a spatula and says, "This, my friends, is how you finish a jar of peanut butter."

"Take your spatula and brush all the outsides," she says as she demonstrates the hack, scraping all the sides. "It's the easiest."

"My husband's favorite pastime is watching me do this for… the bottom of the jar," Mansfield explains as she takes a bite of the peanut butter she's removed from the jar.

"Literally, nothing brings me more happiness than doing this," she says as she reveals the now properly empty jar of peanut butter, which has clean and clear sides.

"Spatula trick works every time!"

Another user had a suggestion of their own — reusing the jar for another meal.

They suggested: "You can also make overnight oats inside [the jar]."
