All the whacky food at the Sydney Royal Easter Show 2024
The Sydney Royal Easter Show has become embedded in the fabric of Australiana over 201 years for many reasons – and show bags, wood chopping, fireworks, and farm animals are only a few of those on the laundry list.
For foodies, it's safe to say the annual two-week-long fair is heaven on Earth. And we're not just talking about Woolworths' Fresh Food Dome.
Yes, due to the current cost-of-living crisis, the Royal Agricultural Society of New South Wales is encouraging punters on a budget to bring their own lunch to the show and enjoy the more than 12 hours of free entertainment on each day.
But for those who are looking to splurge on snacks, we've rounded up the weirdest, whackiest and most wonderful novelty food items you should definitely consider adding to your personal menu.

Micks Bakery Mickparmy Pie – $12
It is, essentially, exactly as it sounds – when you buy the $12 pie, you're going to get a rich, filling chicken parmigiana in a pastry sac.
"Marinated chicken infused with tomato, layed with smoked ham, chicken parmie sauce, then smashed with cheese inside," Di Salvatore told 9News before the show opened last week.
Micks Bakery Mickparmy Pie – $12
Punters can find them at Micks Bakery's store at the show, which is located just outside the Woodchop Stadium.
Mie Goreng Fries – $8
These might look like regular hot chips – but the fact people travel from all across Australia just to try them speaks otherwise.
It's a special seasoning recipe you can only ever taste at May's Malaysian Hawker, which makes their own Mie goreng seasoning blend to sprinkle over the crunchy fries.
It's salty, sweet, and a little bit barbecuey, and you can find them at Mr Alloo's Noodle Market for the duration of the Sydney Royal Easter Show this year.
Milo Dinosaur – $9
Also at May's Malaysian Hawker is the Milo Dinosaur, which is perfect for a sweet dessert-like indulgence following the fries.
There's nothing like an iced Milo milkshake for a cheeky refreshment between activities.
Biscoff Cinnabon – $8.20
Another twist on an Aussie classic is the Biscoff cinnamon scroll, available at Cinnabon's stall at the back of the show bag pavilion.
It tastes exactly how it looks like... delicious. But I would recommend asking for it to be warmed up so you really get the full effects of the contrast between moist inside and crunchy biscuits on top.

The bakery also has their own twist on Milo, with a Milo chocolate mousse macaron on offer.
Chebbo's Smasburger Taco – $15
Outside the home and lifestyle pavilion sits the humble Chebbo's food truck, which is home to what is, quite frankly, a taste sensation.
If you can only eat one thing at the show, make sure it's this. The juicy meat is full of flavour and the vegetables on this 'smashburger' taco – which tastes like an elevated Big Mac – are crisp and fresh.
It'll fill you up, but it's so yummy, you'll immediately want more anyway.
