This week marks the beginning of Ramadan, the month Muslims will be spending fasting from dawn to dusk.

But before they begin fasting, they have what is called suhoor (sometimes called sehri), which is the pre-dawn meal Muslims eat right before they embark on a long day of fasting.

The last thing you want to be doing this Ramadan is stumbling around the kitchen half-asleep at the crack of dawn, trying to find something to eat before having to start your day early.

Here are some great quick and easy recipes to make for those early morning wake-ups this month.

Turkish eggs

These Turkish eggs may seem complicated as the recipe has a number of different components, but really they come together in just 10 minutes for an elevated breakfast – perfect to start your fast with.

Per the recipe by TikTok user Zaynah, first smear some Greek yoghurt with grated garlic and salt mixed in on a plate as you poach your eggs.

Once the eggs are done, rest them as you make your chilli butter with spices like paprika, chilli flakes, cumin, or others.

Then simply place the eggs into the yoghurt and top the dish with the chilli butter to add some zing. Garnish and eat with some sourdough bread for a healthy, filling and unique breakfast to start your day.

Overnight oats

Overnight oats are the simplest breakfast option and are easy to make in advance.

This recipe for overnight 'snickers' (choc-peanut) oats calls for some rolled oats, some oat milk, peanut butter, cacao, some ground cinnamon, some maple syrup, and some chopped medjool dates.

You could also add some protein powder to make it more nutritious.

Mix all of the ingredients together and leave in the fridge overnight.

In the morning, simply grab it and go.

As per the recipe by TikTok user Maryam, start by rolling out some puff pastry and cut them into rectangles. Then place your sausages on the long side of the pastry and fill the remaining space of the puff pastry with your choice of sauce, cheese, and any other toppings.

Then start rolling the pastry from the sausage side until it becomes a roll and cut it into bite sized pieces.

Finally, make some slits at the top, cover with egg wash and sprinkle with sesame seeds before popping in the air fryer of freezing for later, whether it be for suhoor or iftaar, the meal the breaks the fast.

A simple and easy breakfast option, paratha eggs sees a combination of the classic desi breakfast.

Following TikToker Maryam's recipe, start by whisking two eggs with some milk and season, before adding in any veggies or extras into your omelette.

Then fry a frozen paratha without any oil in the pan, until it turns golden brown. After taking it off the heat, add oil to the pan, and pour the egg mixture in.

After one side of the omelette is firm, add the paratha to the top of the uncooked side and flip, making sure the egg is cooked through.
