Pizza Hut launch beer delivery service in Queensland and Victoria

Pizza and beer are one of those enduring combinations, so it's happy news then that Pizza Hut are now offering a beer delivery service to complement their hot pies.

The fast-food giant roll out the new beer menu in Queensland and Victoria today, with plans to expand it nationally in the not-too-distant future.

The franchise has selected some of Australia's best-selling brews for the task, including Victoria Bitter, Great Northern, Corona and XXXX Gold, with six-packs starting from $19.95.

Victorians will additionally be able to order a Furphy, Coors, Yenda, as well as a selection of RTDs and Jacobs Creek wines.

Pizza Hut commissioned research around Australia's drinking habits prior to rolling out the service, with 75 per cent of respondents saying pizza is their go-to choice when knocking back a beer, followed by burgers (63 per cent), hot chips (51 per cent) and wings (47 per cent).

The research also found that more than one-third of Australians (39 per cent) feel judged about their beer choices, with many admitting they reach for more familiar beers when drinking at home.

Pizza Hut's chief marketing officer Chet Patel says the brand wanted to make the choice simple for Aussies.

"We're no strangers to controversy — the debate about whether pineapple belongs on pizza has been raging for years and yet Hawaiian is one of our top-selling pizzas.

"We don't judge Aussies for their diverse tastes, we just make delicious pizza, wings and pasta for all to enjoy. Now, we're offering popular, well-priced beer to go with the menu, making it easier for Aussies to get what they want."

The company even hit the streets to see what everyday Aussies think of the pizza-beer combo, with enthusiastic responses.

"Pizza and beers were designed to go together. It's a match made in heaven," one bloke said.

"Getting pizza delivery and beer all in one, it's a great idea," another agreed.
