Food giants' collaboration leads to ultimate Mexican-Italian mash up

Italian and Mexican cuisine have joined forces, with Latina Fresh and Old El Paso merging the flavours and spices into one glorious dish.

The two companies have devised a taco-flavoured ravioli, bursting with taco-spiced-beef filling in each pasta mouthful.

The fusion pasta is available in supermarkets across the country for a limited time, and serves "four amigos" according to its product description.

Flavoured with "mild" spices, the 625g packages of pasta, which are ready in five minutes, are Australian made and already a hit online.

"We found this at Woolies but need some inspiration - what sauce do we serve it with?" one woman asked in a Facebook post.

"I used to cook up 500gm mince and mixed veggies with bolognese sauce and mix through the ravioli," shared one commenter.

"Serve it with queso cheese sauce," suggested another Facebook user.

Another said to follow the traditional taco serving structure, dressing the dish with "salsa" and added a "good dollop of sour cream."

They added they opted for salsa "straight from the chip section."

One home cook shared their detailed method for serving up the unique pasta.

"We used two tins of diced tomatoes and a tin of salsa with some fried bacon for the sauce and then grated cheese and a dollop of sour cream on top," they wrote.
