Messina Gelato Bars have landed in Woolworths and Coles supermarkets

Dessert fans, brace yourself — cult Sydney-based gelato brand Messina is now available at supermarkets across the country for the first time.

Messina has teamed up with ice-cream giant Peters to launch a permanent range of freezer-friendly gelato bars at Coles and Woolworths stores nationally.

Now Aussies who don't live nearby one of the popular brand's stores in New South Wales, the ACT, Victoria and Queensland, can skip the queues and pick up some Messina goodness from their local supermarket.

The launch comes on the back of Messina's successful limited-edition collaboration with Drumstick last year.

The new range features three gelato flavours, packed with Messina-made ingredients including: a Choc Hazelnut Gelato Bar with cocoa gelato, chocolate biscuit, hazelnut sauce and hazelnut chocolate; an Espresso Dulce De Leche Gelato Bar with espresso gelato, biscuit, dulche de leche sauce and milk chocolate; and Strawberry Cheesecake Gelato Bar with lemon-infused gelato, biscuit and strawberry sauce with pink chocolate.

The gelato brand even created an amusing ad advising how to enjoy the new supermarket bars, poking fun at vegans and our dismal travel restrictions.

The Messina "briefing" video begins by advising gelato fans to identify supermarket hazards and "slow zones".

"Elderly, toddlers and vegans are all difficult to nagivate," the straight-faced actor explains.

The man then suggests finding a safe and "secluded" spot to have a first taste, with an "abandoned alley" and "travel agent" among the tongue-in-cheek options.

The new Messina Gelato Bars come in a pack of four, retailing for $10, and are available at Coles and Woolworths supermarkets, and independant grocers Australia-wide.
