Macca's confirms iconic birthday parties will make a comeback after pandemic-induced hiatus
You haven't imagined it – there has been a distinct lack of McDonald's birthday party invitations these past few years.
It's a rite of passage Aussie children don't even know they've been robbed of in the first place, but that's about to change.
Classmates huddled together over hot chips and ice cream cake, parents encouraging the little ones to tire themselves out on the play equipment before being picked up, jealous siblings wanting your Happy Meal toy in the car ride home – don't fret, youngsters will be able to form those core memories at some stage.

We don't know when, exactly, but a spokesperson for McDonald's Australia has confirmed to 9Honey Kitchen in a statement that the birthday parties, which were paused during COVID-19 and its associated lockdowns, will be making a comeback.
"We're reviewing when and how we'll bring them back," the spokesperson said.
"In the meantime, families are always welcome to visit our restaurants and enjoy a Macca's moment together, such as for a birthday or team celebration," the statement continued.
"We do recommend you phone ahead to your local restaurant, so we're ready to accommodate larger groups."
Just be wary, when you do eventually find yourself at your local McDonald's – be sure to be extra specific if you're asking for customised modifications with your order.

Recently, a customer in the United Kingdom asked for a few extra pickles, and was shocked when they bit into their quarter pounder.
"That is a thing of beauty," one Reddit user joked when they saw just how many pickles the customer had been given – almost 25.
A former McDonald's employee weighed in on the burger's extra garnishing, revealing when a customer asked for "extra" anything, they always went above and beyond.
McDonald's has previously confirmed it doesn't charge customers for extra pickles.
"Customers can add a limited number of extra pickles to a burger, wrap or salad at no extra cost," a spokesperson said in 2022.
