Make a mug donut in six minutes with pantry staples

Katherine Scott

There's been a lot of donut buzz of late, from the donut ice-cream cone craze to the internet's obsession with miniature edible donut tutorials.

But none of these things can compare to the excitement we experienced when we heard about this — a jelly donut you can make in just six minutes.

Irish-born Gemma Stafford is leading a speedy microwave mug meal revolution via her popular Youtube channel and blog Gemma's Bigger Bolder Baking, and she's kindly shared her tutorial for "mugnuts"—microwave mug jam donuts—with ninemsn Food.

Stafford, a professionally-trained chef, has found a way to bypass all the usual tedious kneading, proving and frying steps in the donut making process, and produce the warming, doughy, cinnamon infused, jam-filled dessert in just six minutes — that is, five minutes of prep and just one minute in the microwave.

Watch the tutorial above to see just how easy it is to replicate — you probably already have all the ingredients at home in your pantry!
