There's nothing more comforting than a steaming cup of Maggi noodles - whether it be an after-school snack, an easy meal, or the perfect sick-day accompaniment.

But when you're at home curled up on the couch with your noodles in hand, the plastic cup seems like a bit of a waste.

This is why Nestlé has re-thought the iconic Aussie snack, reducing it's use of plastic along the way.

Available in both chicken and beef flavours, the nostalgic treat now comes in a packet of four and are able to be tipped straight into a standard sized mug at home, along with some boiling water, for the taste we all know and love

Of the change, Nestlé Head of Marketing – Foods, Monique Koning commented, "We know many of our consumers enjoy eating instant noodles in a cup at home - so we have re-thought the cup.

"The launch marks just one exciting milestone for Maggi as it works to reduce the impact of its packaging as part of its sustainability journey."

For those who still need an on-the-go option, the beloved cup noodles are still available in their original form, but they are now wrapped in 50 per cent recycled plastic, saving "enough virgin plastic to cover over 400 football fields a year," according to Koning.

"The Maggi team is proud to be at the forefront of reducing plastic packaging in the instant noodle category. This is only the beginning of our journey," she added.
