Sydney's 'prodigal son', acclaimed chef David Thompson, returns to Sydney.
It's been over two decades since chef David Thompson opened a restaurant in Sydney (think the original Sailor's Thai), but the wait is finally over. From tonight, Monday August 29, Sydney can finally get a taste of the much-anticipated Long Chim.
Hot off the back of opening Long Chim Perth in the early months of this year, the unveiling of Thompson's Sydney venue has been a point of much gossip. After all, Thompson's signature Thai street food has not only made him a world leader and expert in the details, traditions and flavour profiles of Thai cooking, but has also earned him a spot in the 2016 World's 50 Best Restaurants list, placing no. 37 for his restaurant Nahm in Bangkok. Nahm also placed at no. 8 for Asia's 50 Best Restaurants in 2016.

Long Chim means to "come and taste", and Thompson is looking forward to having Sydney do just that at the new tucked-away Angel Place venue in the city's CBD.
Expect to see dishes including crunchy prawn cakes, beef skewers with cumin coriander and turmeric, and cured pork sausages spiked with chilli and ginger on the menu. For the brave, you might even try durian ice-cream for dessert.
