Aussie foodie inspires sweet-tooth cooks to recreate Christmas 'Scramington' dessert

Thanks to last minute gifts and big family gatherings, Christmas is often the busiest time of year for many Aussies – so sometimes the best gift can be for a time-saving hack.

TikTok foodie Tigga Maccormack (@tigga_mac) has come to the rescue, inventing a Christmas "wreath" dessert that's quick, easy and made of store-bought items.

"You know when you wanna make something and you want it to be impressive but you don't want it to take any time at all?" she says as the video starts.

"Well that was me when I was making this."

The video shows the cake artist slicing up some vanilla and jam scrolls.

"I've called it a 'Scramington wreath', scramington because it is scroll and lamington put together," Maccormack explains.

She goes on to use store-bought items to put together a stunning dessert.

The ingredient list consisting of a handful of items, including lamingtons, vanilla scrolls, strawberries, raspberries, raspberry jam and flake chocolate bars.

The only thing Maccormack had to make was the whipped cream, which alternatively can also be bought ready-made.

"It took me like 15 minutes to make, I took it to an afternoon tea and it got absolutely demolished," she said.

The video amassed over five million views and has inspired many fellow foodies to create their own version of the dessert.

TikTok users could not contain their excitement over the 'iconic Aussie dessert'.

"Great thinking, seriously you're a legend, Australian Christmas treat," wrote one.

"Having a small Christmas this year as we don't want the fuss. think we will give this a go," wrote another.

Lamingtons seemed to garner some international attention as users from across the globe, particularly the UK, expressed their confusion.

"UK here. what is a Lamington?" wrote one.

A second wrote, "do we have Lamington in the UK?"

"Your bakes are amazing but there's a reason no one else in the world eats lamingtons," added another only for Maccormack to respond "Haha not sure where you're from but I can assure MANY people eat lamingtons."

The treat has been recreated by many users, some even posting their results on TikTok offering many thanks to Maccormack for creating this legendary dessert.
