Mum discovers kitchen hack for easy baked Camembert parcels

Eden Faithfull

There are some pretty clever Aussie home cooks around. Whether you're a mum, a dad or living solo and cooking for yourself, there are so many brilliant kitchen hacks out there for you to cut your time in the kitchen in half and still end up with delicious, and nutritious, home cooking.

Many of these hacks, we've noticed, involve a little gadget that you can pick up on the cheap at Kmart, called a pie maker. The great thing about this little product is that you can make more than just a humble pie in it. We've come across dozens of different recipes you can whip up in this beauty, and so we're not surprised that we've come across another one.

This time, people are making baked Camembert parcels in their pie makers, and frakly, they look delicious.

The mum said cooking the cheese in the gadget created oozing hot "fondue/brie/Camembert with quince paste" - perfect for serving as an entree or on a platter.

"If you are looking for something quick and easy to serve for... lunch or afternoon tea, these are fantastic," she wrote on the Kmart Pie Maker Recipes Facebook group.

She used Pampas Puff pastry, 125g Brie or Camembert and quince or plum paste.

The pastry was cut into rounds slightly bigger than the cheese and placed into the pie maker. Next, the cheese was placed on top and covered with a generous serving of the fruit paste. For an extra touch, the poster added a small pastry heart to cover the join.

"Wrap the pastry over the top so the cheese is sealed inside and bake for about 10 minutes," she said.

And it's just that easy! The photos and recipe had all the members of the group excited, with many sowing their praise in the comment section.

"Omg I'm in love," said one. 'I'm such a savoury eater and I would eat that on my own.'

"Ohhhh I think that’ll go down a treat... especially paired with a bottle of Cienna," another chimed in.

One thing is for certain, this quick and easy kitchen hack would be a dangerous one if you're a lover of all things cheese. I know in my house that plat could easily disappear n a single sitting.
