KFC joins Uber Eats with enormous, adrenaline-pumping stunt

KFC has today announced some big news that will have fans in a spin.

The fried chicken outlet is finally joining forces with Uber Eats for delivery right around Australia, with 500 stores coming online with the service in every state and territory.

To celebrate, the two teamed up for a hilarious stunt to share the news, by delivering a human sized Kentucky Fried Chicken drumstick from the sky into a six-metre-high Uber Eats delivery bag. Let it never be said that KFC does things quietly.

The giant piece of fried chicken 'winged it' (pun intended) through a 4,000-metre drop into the giant Uber Eats delivery bag.

Check out the stunt in the video above, and it should bring a hungry smile to your face. The descent was over 200 kilometres per hour, and took roughly five minutes for the drop, with the stunt commissioned to celebrate the arrival of KFC on the Uber Eats platform in Australia.

"We know from thousands of searches on our app that the desire for KFC has been sky high for some time," said General Manager Uber Eats, ANZ, Bec Nyst.

"Now that KFC has landed on Uber Eats, we wanted to tell that story in an impactful, distinct and memorable way. It might not fly into your bag, but all KFC's favourites are now available to get in a few clicks on the Uber Eats app in every state and territory."

UberEats has grown in popularity in the last few years, so it makes sense for the popular fast food fried chicken brand to get on board for easy delivery.

"It's no secret that Aussies love having convenient ways to get their favourite food delivered, so we're pretty excited that KFC has finally landed on Uber Eats," said Sally Spriggs, CMO KFC Australia. "We're always up for a bit of fun, so what better way to make some noise about this new partnership than having a huge Kentucky Fried Chicken drumstick jump out of a plane and land into a giant Uber Eats bag?
