According to Hill Street Grocer, when microwaving your pasta, you should be leaving the centre of the plate empty.
Essentially, the best way to reheat your pasta is to arrange it in the shape of a ring around the edges of your plate.
The reason your food never heats up evenly, and particularly in the middle, is due to the radiation inside the microwave.
Microwaves heat food from the side so, essentially, if you have too much food stacked in the centre of your dish, these waves may not be able to penetrate through and heat it evenly.

The theory is that by shaping your food into a ring and leaving the centre of your plate empty, its surface area is expanded.
As a result, it can be reached by the heat waves, allowing it to heat up nice and evenly.
Similarly, according to pasta-maker Barilla, you should also reheat your sauce and pasta separately.

Barilla suggests adding in a little water on top of your pasta before microwaving it. This will supposedly stop your pasta from sticking together or becoming hard.
Similarly, they also recommend keeping your dish covered while microwaving.
There you have it! Never consume lukewarm pasta leftovers again by employing these ingenious kitchen hacks.
