With just two simple ingredients you can turn baked beans into a gourmet meal
Sometimes when we hit mid-week, there's nothing we want to do less than cook dinner. And by sometimes, we mean almost all the time.
So, we often find ourselves turning to a trusty can of baked beans and a never-quite-cooked-right piece of toast.
While there's no denying it's a delicious meal, what if we told you there was a way to turn your can of baked beans into something a little more gourmet with just two ingredients?

Well, 9honey Kitchen spoke to Khanh Ong about his mid-week whip ups when he just can't be bothered to cook, and he gave us a genius suggestion.
If you're looking to jazz up a can of baked beans, all you need is some chorizo and rice.
"Grab yourself some chorizo, dice it up and cook for five minutes in a pan," Ong tells 9honey Kitchen.
"Pop your baked beans in with the chorizo to heat it up, then serve over steamed rice with some parsley! And if you want to up the veg content, peas work too!"

If you really can't be bothered even cooking rice, you can simplify it even further with a microwaveable rice packet.
Ong also shared his mid-week spin on the viral Irish-Chinese spice bag recipe.
Now, if you haven't seen it all over social media, let us explain what the delicious concoction is.
Basically, it's hot chips mixed in with crispy fried chicken and some stir-fried vegetables (think capsicum and onion) all covered in tasty curry seasonings and gravy.
According to Ong, the curry and gravy flavours are "a match made in heaven."
If you're thinking it sounds too complicated, Ong assures us it's "SO easy" and can be whipped up in just 15 minutes.

His top tip to get it perfect, though, is to "get the good chips".
"To make it extra delicious, you need the chips crispy on the outside, but the inside has to stay fluffy to mop up all that gravy," he says.
"My favourite are the Birds Eye Deli sea salt and rosemary - yum!"
