Twitter debate rages over how long you should leave your teabag in
If there's one thing the Brits take seriously, it's their national drink — tea.
So when Vice UK writer Joel Dolby recently took to Twitter to slam people who don't steep for long enough, a lot of folks took it for what it clearly was — an all-out declaration of war.

"Simply can't trust people who don't leave the tea bag to steep in the cup for a bit," the writer joked in a tweet over the weekend.
"You think you can get enough depth of flavour just by squashing it a lot with the back of a teaspoon? The arrogance. The ego. Leave the room and walk away from it."
Twitter quickly picked sides, and the ensuing thread is the most wonderfully British thing you'll read all week.

Another former Vice writer Chris Deeley couldn't resist taking a stab at his ex colleague.
Some were quick to see the error of their tea-making ways.
The debate also branched off to divide those who drink tea with the tea bag still in, and those who dispose of the bag first.
Some users pointed out that this method simply wouldn't work for all teas. This didn't go down well with English Breakfast purists.

Although it's unlikely Brits will ever see eye to eye on the topic, a 2018 study claims to hold the key to the tastiest brew.
Researchers at the University of Northumbria's School of Life Sciences found that steeping a tea bag for two minutes before removing, and then cooling for a further six minutes offered the best "all round sensory experience".
