According to Heinz, mayo has been used as an ingredient in cake recipes for nearly a century — dating all the way back to The Great Depression.

Made from eggs and oil, mayonnaise helps elevate any cake, providing moist deliciousness and offsetting its acidity to create a sweetness that enhances any cake's flavour.

So with that in mind, this seemingly mouth-watering chocolate cake has mayonnaise as the secret ingredient.

Who knows, maybe it will be your new favourite?
