UK bakery chain trolls the internet with sausage roll crime

A UK bakery chain has ruffled a lot of feathers after tweeting a controversial way of eating their sausage roll.

Earlier today Gregg's, a British high street favourite, shared an image depicting a sausage roll with a bite taken out of the centre, in a move online pastry fans are calling "illegal" and "blasphemy".

The photo was posted in response to a Tweet calling on users to share "What feels illegal, but isn't?". The pastry chain responded by uploading the divisive image, along with the simple caption: "This."

It's unclear who snapped the image.

Horrified critics were quick to weigh in that this baked goods crime was "Definitely illegal" or at least "should be", with responses ranging from "Dark times!" to "Blocked."

"Greggs... NO," one commentator scolded the chain.

Another Gregg's fan vowed: "I don't know who did this but I will find them and give them a good talking to."

"What animal would do that!" another asked.

Other users used this segue into unorthodox sausage roll eating to share their own bizarre ways of devouring the dish.

"I eat them differently too. Have to be chilled til really cold,then eat bottom layer of pastry,then the top. Finally scoff the filling. Hot and all in one is not for me."

Each to their own, I suppose.
