Genius 'HamDog' hybrid food shut down by Shark Tank judges is now a reality

Katherine Scott

The HamDog dream is still alive and well in this marquee production line.

Oh look… It's not reinventing the wheel but there's a special place reserved for inventions like the HamDog, and that place is all of our mouths (in moderation, of course). Now this hybrid half-hamburger, half-hotdog may soon be coming to a state near you.

When the judging panel on Network Ten's Shark Tank Australia stomped on Perth inventor Mark Murray's dreams to bring his fast food hybrid baby, the HamDog, to the world, Australia collectively mourned the future loss of this formidable Franken-food, taken from us before it had even clogged its first artery (had the panel not heard of the cronut, cruffin or mufgel?).

Watch the clip above as judges scoff and eye-roll their way through Murray's, quite frankly, moving "party in your mouth" pitch.

Weirdly, Murray isn't the first to come out with a HamDog—Jimmy
's Restaurant in Minnesota, USA, sells a far more frightening version featuring a quarter-pound hotdog, wrapped in cheese and hamburger meat, deep-fried, stuffed in a large hoagie bun, and smothered in chilly, cheese and onions.
