A debate is raging over the right and wrong way to handwash dishes

Everyone has their own take on cleaning dishes (need I remind you of the dishwasher wars of 2016?).

However, when it comes to handwashing, people fall into two distinct but opposing categories, according to Bon Appetit magazine author Nikita Richardson — those who wash the bottom of their dishes, and those who don't.

Her article titled 'Please, I'm begging you, wash the bottom of your dishes' struck a chord with the Twitterverse over the weekend, inadvertantly sparking a cleaning crusade amongst its users.

A good portion of the Internet were just stunned this sloppy practice even exists.

Others bravely admitted that this had never occurred to them.

While other revolted users used the conversation as an excuse to gleefully share their own examples of relatives and housemates who weren't up to snuff with their cleaning practises. Some of the revelations were truly disturbing.

As for us? We tend to side with the article's author Richardson on this one, who rightly pointed out: "not washing the bottom of your dishes is the first step on a slippery slope toward half-assery." And, well, when it comes to kitchen hygiene, there's simply no room for that.
