Coolest cooler is actually pretty cool

It's probably a bit cold Down Under to be thinking about beach parties just yet, but you might just want to leave your dusty old esky where it is by the time summer rolls around. There's a much cooler chilly bin on the way to help you get your party started.

The campaigners raising money to make the Coolest describe their invention as a "portable party disguised as a cooler". Apart from being a cold place to store ice, drinks and food, the icebox's features include a built-in blender, waterproof Bluetooth speakers, a USB charger, moulded storage for knives and plates, a bottle opener and tie-down straps making it easier to cart everything else around.

It's an impressive list but even more remarkable when you see the prototype in action in the video above. And we're certainly not alone in our admiration of the forthcoming modern-day ice box.

The crowdfunding project that's bringing the Coolest to market started with a goal of $53,000 but has raised more than $4.2 million from 20,250 investors. It's now one of the top 20 projects funded via Kickstarter, despite failing to raise the money they needed by the same method last year, Crowdfund Insider reported.

The Coolest looks perfect for summer entertaining. About the only thing missing is something to scare off the mosquitos, unless someone else can invent a USB-powered ultrasonic pest repeller.
