Tab fans want Coca-Cola to bring back their favourite soft drink

We all have our favourite soft drinks, especially when it comes to cola. Some of us swear by Coke classic, others are fans of No Sugar. There's also the camp for Pepsi and all the other varieties from across the different drink companies.

The battlefield for the love of cola is a fraught and turbulent place. So, when Tab Diet Cola was discontinued by Coca-Cola in October 2020, fans were not prepared to just lie down and take it. After all, the product was introduced in 1963 and has had a good 59 years to really cement itself.

So much so, those fans started a 'Save Tab Soda' site that same year. They're clear in their mission; to convince Coca-Cola to bring back their favourite diet cola and to support them in any way they can in marketing the product, working with the hashtag #savetabsoda.

Their website states it is simply a fan page and is in no way affiliated with Coca-Cola as a company. It also has a vey clear set of actions to help the cause along, including signing a petition set up at change.org.

So far, there are 2,957 signatures – and rising.

The group became a non-profit organisation and runs an online fundraiser (currently sitting at $1,790) to raise money for the cause. It's a slow burn, with news outlets only just joining the story for the fight, even though it's been going for over a year.

The group is "designed to focus on activities and events intended to convince Coca-Cola to change its mind on product discontinuation," says the site.

People picked us the story this week, and more signatures have been added to the petition since the report. Maybe this is the push the group needs to get some serious traction for the return of their beloved cola.

According to reports, Coca-Cola has no plans to bring Tab back, despite fan interest, but does credit the product with paving the way for the diet soft drinks that the company has today.

We can't wait to see if the groundswell builds and if the fans will be heard.
