A customer has questioned the impact of 'shrinkflation' on their recent breakfast choice, baulking at the cost of a single slice of avocado on toast.

Sharing their experience on Reddit's 'Perth' thread, they post a photo of a plate containing the toast which appears to be topped with smashed avocado, feta cheese and pumpkin seed kernels.

The toast and plate are adorned with a sprinkle of tasty seasoning and a lemon wedge has been placed next to it.

For this single slice of avocado toast the customer was charged $15.58, which even in these costly times would buy a couple of loaves of similar bread, a whole avocado and even a lemon.

Although they may have to do without the feta cheese and pumpkin seed kernels.

"Wowee - plain old toast is the real crime here," one Redditer commented.

"Not even sourdough," added another.

"Right? At least give me two slices of the $2.50 bread from Woolies," added another.

"For $15.58 you get a bottle of wine and two frozen pizzas at Aldi," one pointed out.

"The smashed avo has been one slice of bread for about a year now," another shared. "It used to be two. The standard is now one piece of sourdough now with the menu change that we had about a month ago. There's also meant to be a garnish of cherry tomatoes."

"But be positive – the avo goes ALL THE WAY TO THE EDGE OF THE BREAD!!!" another said.

"I hope you ate the whole lemon and licked every crumb of the plate to get your moneys worth," one Redditer joked.

"So many times I've ordered basic things like rice and bbq pork for $15 and it's been poor or average. It's not that hard or expensive to make most of this stuff. Even avo toast isn't that expensive besides the labour (which again, doesn't feel like it should be a whole lot)," one said.

"Looks like they used a slice of bread to wipe down the table after the previous guest had breakfast," another said.
