Allen's and The Australian Women's Weekly reinvent iconic birthday cake cookbook, free at Coles

It's the cookbook at the centre of many an Aussie's childhood birthday party memories, and now it's being reinvented with some flare from Australia's most iconic lolly producer.

Allen's has teamed up with The Australian Women's Weekly for the brand-new Allen's Party Cake Book, spreading nostalgia to fans of the original book and offering a new generation of bakers some lolly-encrusted cake hacks to try.

The cookbook is free when you purchase any three Allen's or Bakers Choice products in a single transaction in select Coles stores across the country.

Fittingly, the cookbook marks a special milestone birthday — with confectionary brand Allen's celebrating its 130th anniversary this year.

The cookbook will feature some cult classic recipes, for those of us who still remember the iconic "Choo Choo" train cake and animal-inspired desserts.

The announcement comes on the back of the launch of two brand-new Allen's party mix lollies, as part of the brand's 130th birthday celebrations.

Allen's Party Faves and Allen's Piñata Party hit participating stores shelves on September 1, coinciding with the cookbook launch in Coles supermarkets.

Speaking on the cookbook, Nestlé's head of marketing confectionery Joyce Tan said the collaboration offered a fun "twist" on a beloved classic.

"Like Allen's lollies, the AWW Cake Book has been a staple of many childhoods, so we know this partnership between two iconic party-loving brands will spark the imaginations of Aussies to create new delicious and delightful cakes for any celebration, with a fun Allen's twist." 

Sarah-Belle Murphy, Are Media's executive general manager of publishing, described the partnership as "a match made in heaven".

"Are Media is thrilled to have joined forces with Allen's on one of Australia's most recognisable cake books and to join in on such a special milestone!"

The new Allen's Party Cake Book is available exclusively in Coles stores from September 1, while stocks last.

The last time the iconic cookbook made a comeback was one year ago, as the AWW recipe book celebrated its 40th anniversary. The anniversary edition featured a nostalgic mix of old and new recipes.
