Last year, Serena Williams showed that she’s got the Midas touch away from the tennis court too when she turned to the high-priestess of bridal gowns, Sarah Burton, the creative director of Alexander McQueen to design her wedding dress.

Now, for the first-time since she walked down the aisle in November to marry Reddit co-founder, Alexis Ohanian, the tennis champ has released never-before-seen photos of her wedding dress fittings for Bride Magazine.

Fronting for February/March edition of the magazine, the 36-year-old has shown just what went into creating the dreamy gown that featured a voluminous tulle skirt, belt, strapless sweetheart neckline and cape.

"I flew to London to meet with Sarah and ended up falling in love with the ball gown silhouette, which is completely the opposite of what I ever thought I would choose for myself," Williams told US Vogue. "I loved the idea of doing a really spectacular ball gown, and it has turned out to be such an incredibly special piece."

Williams paired her dream gown with a simple bouquet of white roses and jewels from LA-based jewellers XIV Karats that were worth $4.7 million in total. Ohanian wore a black suit by Armani.

The ceremony which was inspired by Disney’s Beauty and the Beast and held in the Contemporary Arts Centre in New Orleans, was attended by A-list guests such as Beyonce, Kim Kardashian West, Kelly Rowland, Ciara and Anna Wintour.

As for Burton, her wedding dress credentials come with a royal tick of approval. The designer was responsible for creating The Duchess of Cambridge’s iconic lace gown for her 2011 wedding to Prince William and she also created ‘ that dress’ for sister Pippa as her bridesmaid.
