Reese Witherspoon's new 'summer haircut' looks a little familiar

Nothing screams 'ready for summer' like farewelling a few inches of your hair — just ask Reese Witherspoon.

The Big Little Lies star unveiled her new chop on Instagram on Wednesday, her previously long hair now skimming her collarbones.

Judging by the huge grin on her face, Witherspoon is chuffed with the result.

"Thanks for my new summer cut," she wrote, tagging her longterm hair stylist Lona Vigi who also featured in the Boomerang clip.

While the mum of three's long bob is very 2019, her Instagram followers have been quick to point out its similarity to her hairstyles in bygone years.

Several fans said the chop reminded them of Witherspoon's look in the 2002 rom-com Sweet Home Alabama (though her character's hair was significantly shorter).

However, 90s enthusiasts will probably agree it's even more reminiscent of the actress and producer's haircut in 1999's Cruel Intentions, in which she played Annette Hargrove.

From the length of the cut to the placement of the layers framing her face... this might be the ultimate throwback 'do.

Witherspoon's haircut wasn't the only element of her Instagram post that had her followers making comparisons.

Numerous commenters pointed out her hairdresser is a doppelganger for a certain Duchess, who happens to be famous for her luscious hair...

"Gosh for a split second I thought Kate Middleton was running her fingers through your hair!" one wrote, with several posts echoing the sentiment.
