There aren't too many more iconic moments than the time Princess Diana danced with John Travolta at a White House state dinner in 1985. She was wearing a midnight blue Victor Edelstein evening gown and they were dancing to songs from Travolta's 1977 film Saturday Night Fever.

Now Princess Diana's famous off-the-shoulder velvet dress is up for sale as a part of Kerry Taylor Auctions' upcoming "Passion for Fashion" auction.

According to the listing, the gown will accompany two other dark blue dresses also worn by Diana and a collection of clothes owned and worn by fashion icons Coco Chanel, Karl Lagerfeld, Hubert de Givenchy.

The Victor Edelstein gown is expected to fetch between $475,000 and $665,000 when the auction takes place in London, December 9.

Princess Diana's 1985 White House visit wasn't the only time she was spotted in the dress.

"This dress must have been of special significance to the Princess because in 1997 she chose to wear it for her portrait by Lord Snowdon, with the same necklace she had worn twelve years earlier at that infamous event," the listing reads.
