Kylie Minogue goes makeup free in new music video

Kylie Minogue has defied traditional beauty conventions by appearing in the music video for her new single 'Golden’ with an entirely makeup free face.

The 50-year-old singer took to Instagram to share a series of stills from the clip that was shot in Cuba and filmed on the personal camera of cinematographer, John Perez.

"Behind the scenes of the #Golden video, on a roof terrace in Cuba. We had no lights, no crew... no makeup!! It took some convincing from my Director, Sophie Muller but we did it!" Minogue wrote on the post she shared with her 1.7 million followers."

"Our Director of Photography John Perez filmed the video using his personal camera. Job. Done! "

In the video Kylie can be seen frolicking on the beach in Cuba, rolling around on a bed in a sparkly green dress and running through the streets. The Australian entertainer released Golden in April, a month before she celebrated her 50th birthday at the end of May.

The milestone birthday has brought Minogue into the next phase of life with a new perspective both personally and professionally.  After a public and heartbreaking break up from fiancée, Birtish actor Joshua Sasse in February 2017, the Locomotion singer retreated to Nashville, Tennessee to heal and record her new album.

"I think we all know that things were not going great in my relationship, but, you know, when you’re kind of deluded and you’re thinking maybe, maybe ... maybe this needs saving. Turns out, it didn’t,” Minogue revealed to Vogue Australia in April. "I don’t think life is ever smooth sailing; you’ve still got to navigate your way."

"But all in all, I feel pretty good and the process of making an album all of this year has been good to kind of centre me. I’ve learnt a lot about song writing … having two weeks in Nashville, that changed so much for me."

Clad in a show-stopping rainbow frock, the former Neighbours star took to the stage at NYC Pride over the weekend to perform ‘Golden’ and a series of her other hits including ‘Can’t get you out of my head’ and  ‘Spinning Around’ in celebration of LGBT rights at Hudson River Park.
