For the bag's clever creators Chiara Rivituso and Matteo Bastiani — who share their creations on Instagram through @camera60studio — the desire to replicate designer bags with unexpected materials started a few years ago when they made a replica of the iconic Balenciaga Bazaar tote from Tesco shopping bags.

"At that time we were pushed by curiosity — what else can we do with our technique? — and focused on reusing," Rivituso told Vogue.

"The challenge was mixing and matching something from everyday life and iconic fashion world and to explore the possibility to switch them... We wanted to bring the craftsmanship leather goods details into everyday objects."

But when the coronavirus pandemic struck — and all of Italy was placed into lockdown from March 9 — Rivituso and Bastiani who are based in Milan, Italy, had to choose from the materials they had inside their home to continue their mission. And what resulted was a Stella McCartney Falabella tote made out of the packaging from Italian biscuit brand, Abbracci — which translates to 'hugs' in English.

What came next was the impressive McDonald's creation, a Louis Vuitton soft trunk remade using Heineken packaging, a Dior saddle bag made out of Nike shoe boxes, a Chanel mini vanity bag made using Oreo and a Gucci GG Marmont mini round shoulder bag crafted with Lavazza coffee wrappers, to name a few.

Even Kellogg's Corn Flakes packaging can be bougie! The couple turned their breakfast into a Dior It-bag, one-upping the original design by turning it into a fully functioning breakfast bowl — the only time we'd eat out of Dior.

The couple who have worked in the fashion industry for years, specialising in handbags and accessories, aren't about keeping their creativity a secret, the duo also share their templates and offer tutorials on how to create the upcycled bags at home.

"We'd like to inspire people to create rather than waste and we'd like to also involve brands to embrace this vision," says Rivituso. "People are becoming more and more sensitive about upcycling."
