Cate Blanchett's latest sustainable fashion choice uses 102 spoons

Cate Blanchett had more than just a spoonful of style on her latest red carpet.

The Aussie star, 55, made a bold fashion statement at the Borderlands Los Angeles special screening event, turning one unlikely kitchen utensil into clothes.

Blanchett turned heads as she walked out with her top covered in 102 silver spoons.

The Hollywood actress opted to dress sustainably for the evening in the quirky halterneck top by Stockholm label Hodakova.

The Blue Jasmine star's stylist Elizabeth Stewart revealed on Instagram the spoons were heirlooms sourced from the Swedish countryside and used to pull together the look.

"Ellen Hodakova Larsson is dedicated to building a fully sustainable fashion house and changing the conversation of what sustainable fashion means today," Stewart said.

Blanchett finished off her premiere ready look in black form-fitting trousers also from the Swedish designer, a pair of Paul Andrew pointed toe heels and a Louis Vuitton ring.

The actress opted for minimal makeup and styled her short blonde bob in waves.

The Aussie has proved over the years to be a champion of sustainable dressing.

Just a day earlier, Stewart shared snaps of Blanchett wearing an archival 1990s Jean Paul Gaultier jacket and Mr. Saturday pants made from repurposed leather while doing press for her latest movie Borderlands.

On the Cannes Film Festival red carpet in May, the screen star stepped out in a gorgeous black gown with a Louis Vuitton necklace made from repurposed pearls.

Even four years ago at the 2020 Venice Film Festival, Blanchett was setting the trend by re-wearing some of her past designer looks on the famous red carpet.

Blanchett's latest red carpet appearance is for her new action flick Borderlands, based on the video game series of the same name, featuring an all star cast including Barbie rising star Ariana Greenblatt.

At the Los Angeles fan screening, Blanchett took some photos with her A-list co-star Jamie Lee Curtis who rocked a bold red pantsuit and matching tinted glasses.

School of Rock icon Jack Black put on quite the show as he posed up a storm on the red carpet in a bold multi-coloured galaxy shirt and purple trousers.

Comedian Kevin Hart and actress Gina Gershon also showed up to the fan event in style as they stood for photos with the rest of the star-studded cast.
