Balenciaga has come out with the wildest pair of sneakers - and you won't believe the cost
If you thought you can't get closer to barefoot in a shoe than thongs, think again.
One controversial designer has come out with a pair of shoes dubbed the "craziest" and "worst" this season, thanks to a particularly strange detail – and you won't believe the price tag on them.
In December 2024, Balenciaga previewed their Fall 2025 collection. People quickly took notice of one wild shoe, branded as a sneaker, called the "Zero".

While the luxury label is no stranger to weird and wacky fashion, its latest shoe has taken the barefoot trend to a whole new level – basically because it's hardly a shoe at all.
The shoe, which comes in black and beige, is a slip-on molded shoe that takes you as close to barefoot in a shoe as you can go.
Aside from a single hole for your big toe to slip through, the shoe is missing a top, leaving the rest of the foot completely exposed.
Balenciaga's new shoe is listed on their website for a whopping $720.

Needless to say, shoppers have some strong opinions.
"Balenciaga.. WHAT ARE YOU DOIN???😭" one person wrote in the comments of a video showing off the new shoe, posted by the brand on May 17.
"This can't be real," another said in disbelief.
A third admitted they "thought this was a shoe insole".
Others have shared videos of them finding the divisive shoe in stores.
"Tried the craziest shoe of the [season]" one TikToker captioned a video modelling the barefoot sneakers, admitting they were "extremely comfortable" aside from the toe part.

Balenciaga has become known for their outlandish fashion takes.
In 2022, the designer launched a $2,550 sneaker that looked tattered and like it was covered in filth from the streets.
The brand has faced backlash in the past, issuing a public apology for posting inappropriate images for an advertising campaign.
