Australian fashion labels are having a moment in Hollywood.

The world’s biggest actors, models, influencers and even royals – from Meryl Streep to Meghan Markle – have been seen flaunting a handful of homegrown brands, with some surprisingly affordable for the average Aussie.

Brands like DISSH, With Jean, MAISON de SABRÉ, Rachel Gilbert, Christopher Esber, St Agni and Sir are leading the charge of labels making their mark in Hollywood.

Stylist Madeleine Park told nine.com.au it’s not necessarily the price point attracting celebrities to these brands – it’s the very fact they are made by an Australian designer.

“Australians have always been seen, from a design perspective, as the ones to watch,” Park said.

“We’re the ones slightly outside the picture, and I think that makes us more interesting for a celebrity.

“They get bombarded with all of these brands, and they see very similar things over and over again, so to be able to find something that’s a little bit left-field ... to them, that’s an interesting point of difference.”

She likened the phenomenon to Australians buying a European fashion label - even if it’s at a similar price point and looks like the same stuff we can buy here, it’s perceived to be unique.

Park added that while some local labels, like With Jéan or Mode Mischief, offer on-trend items, most, like DISSH and Rachel Gilbert, offer a timeless ‘quiet luxury’ feel, which is increasingly popular.

“There has been a very strong moment of this quiet luxury, globally,” she added.

I think that’s something we’ve seen in lots of different iterations,” she added

“I think part of that is what’s coming up in the desire for something that’s a little more subtle in terms of branding.”

She says Australian labels play into this well, boosting their popularity with celebrities overseas.

“When you’re a high-profile person, you are a brand yourself … to be associated with something that is so heavily branded, it can compete in terms of messaging.”

Let’s take a closer look at the Aussie brands making it big in Hollywood.

DISSH

Australian brand DISSH is slowly but surely creeping its way into Hollywood – and it comes with a more affordable price tag than many celebrity-loved labels.

The cult-favourite label has been seen on everyone from Meryl Streep and Kendall Jenner to Meghan, the Duchess of Sussex.

Streep was recently spotted in New York wearing the Romy Barrel Leg Pant ($159.99), while Jennifer Lawrence was also seen sporting a plain black blazer from the brand.

Park said the brand’s appeal comes from the ‘quiet luxury’ trend.

“I think what’s going on with DISSH’s explosion in popularity is its pure wearability,” Park said.

“What DISSH does do very well is make clothes that can partner with things that are louder and still allow them to shine, like Meryl Streep’s done with her DISSH items.”

“The pants obviously look beautiful on her, but it’s the jacket that’s got the colour and the drama.”

Jenner was also spotted in the Nate Maxi Dress while she was on holiday.

Meanwhile, the Duchess of Sussex wore a top and pants from DISSH for an engagement during her Australian tour in April.

Meghan wore the Parker Black Tailored Wide Leg Pant ($150) and the Merino long-sleeve glove top for ($360).

Rachel Gilbert

Aussie designer Rachel Gilbert is known for her timeless formal wear.

Some of the entertainment world’s biggest stars have worn her gowns, including Selena Gomez, Eva Longoria, Olivia Dean, Viola Davis, Lucy Liu, Victoria Justice, Amy Pohler, Nikki Glaser and Mindy Kaling

Notably, Pohler wore a custom Rachel Gilbert gown to the Oscars in 2025, while Glaser hosted the Golden Globes in the Leura Gown ($1800) from the Australian designer.

“She’s always had a really good take on red carpet wear and gowns. That’s really become her forte,” Park told nine.com.au

“The key part to what she does, and why she’s probably appealed to some of those celebrities, is she really does design for a woman’s body, she cuts beautifully for that.”

Park said Gilbert’s designs are timeless, which adds allure for celebrities.

“When a celebrity’s trying to have that beautiful red carpet moment, they don’t want to look back at it and go, ‘Oh no, that’s so 2026.’”

MAISON de SABRÉ

Accessories brand MAISON de SABRÉ has caught the attention of A-list heavyweights including Meryl Streep, Heidi Klum and Naomi Watts.

Streep was spotted carrying the label’s Medium Palais bag ($789) while out and about in New York on a recent press run for The Devil Wears Prada 2.

MAISON de SABRÉ‘s phone cases, bags and charms are all the rage in Hollywood, with Park explaining the appeal comes from the ‘quiet luxury’ movement.

“They’ve really tapped into that trend of having something that’s not so overtly labelled by brand, that allows for the personalisation of it,” she said.

“They have all those cute bag charms, but their bags are quite understated and simple; however, they come in a range of colours … so you can pick the colour that’s for you.”

They also offer bag charms for added personalisation, which is a winning point of difference, Park said.

With Jéan

With Jéan has quickly become the ‘It girl’ label for the world’s most influential models and celebrities.

Bella Hadid, Kaia Gerber, Hailey Bieber, Margot Robbie, Charlie XCX and Dua Lipa all love the Aussie brand.

Dua Lipa loves With Jéan’s bikinis, while Robbie and Charlie XCX have been spotted in the best-selling Luca Dress ($259) and Magnol Dress ($250).

Hadid has worn the Luca Dress among other garments, clearly making the brand one of her favourites.

Park says this is the perfect example of celebrities turning to an Aussie brand for a point of difference, rather than for super unique designs.

“They’re quite simple silhouettes that … you would be able to find elsewhere,” she explained.

“When I look at the With Jean collection, it is very much of the moment, it has those silhouettes that are quite ’90s-coded, that’s quite popular right now.

“I think [it’s appealing] because if you’re going to pick something like that, that’s [very popular], then go for a brand that is not as well known so you still feel like you’re coming from a place of difference.”

Christopher Esber

Dua Lipa, Sofia Richie Grainge, Hailey Bieber and Rachel McAdams have all reached for a Christopher Esber item more than once.

The Australian designer is known for his body-hugging designs, referred to as a “deconstructed elegance” aesthetic.

“When you look at the celebrities wearing his clothes, they’re very much aligned to that body awareness that he designs with,” Park said.

“There is also that point of difference, he’s carved out some very interesting signatures of his own.

“You get this beautiful body, hugging silhouette, but then he has these like little signature cutouts and embellishments. He did stone pieces that were hooked onto the garment a few collections ago … they became very strong hallmarks of his.”

St. Agni

St Agni has become a favourite of dozens of celebrities, including Kendall Jenner, Gigi Hadid, Rosalía and the Duchess of Sussex.

Meanwhile Meghan has worn St Agni for appearances in Abuja, Nigeria and more recently during her Australian tour in April.

Park said the brand’s appeal comes from its high-quality items.

“The quality of St Agni is very good,” she explained.

“Having started as an accessories brand, I think that that’s where they still really hold their strength and their point of difference.

“They come in at a price point that is a lot more accessible than a high-end luxury brand, but you’re still getting something made in leather and well-made.

“They’ve also leaned into that quiet luxury moment that has been very present.”

Sir

Another Aussie brand with a similar ‘quiet luxury’ vibe celebrities love is Sir.

The Substance actress Margaret Qualley gave Sir a major TV moment when she appeared on Jimmy Fallon in 2025 in the Noemi Mini Dress ($350).

Park said the brand is another example of simple silhouettes done well.

Mode Mischief

Mode Mischief is another brand beloved by Hollywood’s It girls. Gigi Hadid, Emma Chamberlin and Hailey Bieber have all been spotted wearing the brand.

While it has simple silhouettes and the clothes are affordably priced, Park said Mode Mischief’s appeal comes from its Aussie roots.

“A lot of it is stuff that is similar to what you can get anywhere,” she said.

“It’s interesting, when you get celebrities picking it up ... It’s worth asking why they differentiate between that and another brand when everything’s so similar.

“They’ve got little details that act as a point of difference, I think it’s similar to what we’ve been saying about the Australian aspect being the point of difference.”

Whatever it may be drawing these celebs to Aussie brands, we’re not complaining!
