Ariarne Titmus named Melbourne Cup Carnival ambassador weeks after Olympics glory
Olympic gold medalist Ariarne Titmus has shared an exciting new sport milestone – and it has nothing to do with swimming.
Each year the Victoria Racing Club selects a star-studded group of ambassadors to be the face of the annual Melbourne Cup Carnival.
Now the racing club has added four-time Gold medalist Titmus to its 2024 lineup.

In a press release on Wednesday morning, the Olympic swimmer has been announced as an ambassador for the upcoming Melbourne Cup Carnival in November.
"Horse riding was my first love," the four-time gold medalist swimmer said.
Titmus competed in dressage and show jumping competitions when she was younger.

"I grew up around horses and competed in dressage and show jumping competitions from the age of seven before swimming took centre stage," the Tasmanian born and raised star continued.
"I have such fond memories of my riding days and am excited to be working with horses and the Victoria Racing Club again."

Titmus gained national praise for her performance at the 2024 Paris Olympic Games.
The Aussie swimmer, who has four gold medals, earned two of these in Paris for the 400-meter freestyle and 4x200-meter freestyle relay events.
Along with becoming the first Aussie woman to defend her individual Olympic win in over half a century, Titmus made headlines for a heartwarming podium moment with her teammate Mollie O'Callaghan and for a sweet post-win interaction with fellow Tassie Queen Mary of Denmark.
Chief Executive Officer Kylie Rogers said the club was "honoured" to welcomed Titmus.

"Ariane's youthful spirit and quiet determination, as well as her unparalleled talent delighted the world this year and we are excited to celebrate her achievements alongside our other incredible athletes, both human and equine, particularly on TAB Champions Stakes Day," Rogers said.
Titmus follows in the footsteps of the late Princess Diana's nieces Lady Eliza Spencer and Lady Amelia Spencer, Count Nikolai of Monpezat, Matildas star Cortnee Vine, Georgina Burke and model Demi Brereton who were ambassadors for the 2023 carnival.
Last year 9Honey exclusively revealed Brereton's role as an ambassador.
"I love this sport and I adore the fashion," Brereton told 9Honey Style ahead of the day.
