Alex Fevola is a busy woman. Mum-to-four, makeup artist and founder of beauty brand Runway Room, she champions the importance of uncomplicated beauty. Her affordable makeup brand has seen her help many women navigate the often-tricky process of aging gracefully thanks to her clever (Aussie-made, too!) formulas and must-copy makeup application hacks. So, in between all her CEO-ing and never-ending parenting duties, what's her daily skincare routine like exactly? We asked her.

A note on this series: We know that everyone's skin is different and what works for one doesn't necessarily work for the other, but aren't you curious as to how Alex looks after her skin behind closed doors? We certainly are.

How do you get good skin?

I always wash my makeup off before bed and I try to drink lots of water! Also, using the right products for my skin is super important.

Talk us through your daily beauty routine?

I cleanse my skin daily with Cosmedix Purity Clean, I then apply First Base Hydrating Primer by Runway Room as it contains a huge 2% hyaluronic acid, which is a hero ingredient for deep hydration and age prevention. At night, I cleanse with the same and then apply Rationale night cream.

What about treatments?

I like to try and have regular light peels but to be honest, thanks to COVID, I haven't had one in a couple of years! I also have Botox a couple of times a year. I don't like to be frozen but I do like to soften the furrow between my brows. So a little Botox every five months, I find, works for me.

How much do you spend on skincare?

Maybe $800 per year on products and perhaps $800 per year on treatments.

Have you always had amazing skin?

I have always had OK skin, I was lucky not to suffer from pimples as a teenager although I did have the occasional hormonal pimple in my early adult years. They would be huge, blind pimples that would be brewing forever! I found nothing really helped, I just had to live with them!

What are your main skin concerns now?

Probably just general ageing. My skin is feeling looser in general and I'm noticing it's feeling dryer than usual. That's why I choose hydrating and lightweight products. Botox is what I find the most effective against general wrinkles.

What are your non-negotiable treatments or products?

Without a doubt, my foundation. As we age, choosing the right make up is so important. Aging skin needs weightless, luminous and hydrating foundation. Face Base Luminous Foundation is my non-negotiable as it blurs imperfections, hydrates my skin and leaves me with a more youthful glow.

What are the skincare products you'll never change in your routine?

Cosmedix Purity Clean and Face Base Luminous Foundation. I feel that when I have used other cleansers or other foundations my skin breaks out and becomes congested. Whenever I wear Face Base people tell me I have fabulous skin, I'm not so sure it's my skin, it's most definitely my foundation!
