Why this vet has slammed the popular 'oodle' breed

A vet has gone viral after releasing a list containing her "least favourite dog breeds" –controversially ranking the popular "oodle" crossbreed at number one.

In a video posted to TikTok, Dr Whitney Terrell named the breeds she was not favourable of and explained her reasoning – whilst pre-empting backlash from dog lovers.

"This is my opinion and my opinion only," she warned. "Also this is just for fun, so don't get your panties in a bunch."

Topping Dr Terrell's list was the beloved "oodle" breed, particularly goldendoodles or groodles (a poodle which is crossed with a golden retriever).

It's worth noting oodles – poodles crossed with other purebreds – are crossbreeds rather than breeds.

"Coming in at one, to piss everyone off, is the golden doodle," Dr Terrell joked. "Some of these dogs are really sweet but a lot of them are crazy, crazy hyper, can't sit still for two seconds. We've had some really aggressive ones as well."

Dr Terrell justified her reasoning saying that the well-known crossbreed requires a lot of maintenance, which can be incredibly expensive, adding that they are also prone to ear infections.

Belgian Malinois and German shepherds surprisingly ranked second on Dr Terrell's list.

The vet prefaced her answer by saying that, whilst they make as great protective dogs, they require a lot of time for training and attention – time which she does not have.

"The ones that we see in the clinic want to bite your face off because they're not properly trained," she reasoned.

"If you're thinking about getting one of these dogs, don't do it lightly because they need lots of training, lots of attention."

Ranking in at third place were brachycephalic (short-snouted) breeds like pugs and bulldogs due their genetic disposition to breathing problems.

"Some of them are so cute and so small but they can't breath," she explained. "They snore... I've already got a husband that snores – I don't need anything else."

She also listed a slew of medical conditions they were prone to, like: skinfold dermatitis, allergies, gas, and much more.

Taking second last place were chihuahuas because of their "ankle biting" tendencies, closely followed by Chinese crested, or hairless, dogs.

"The dogs are fine, I just don't like hairless animals. They [are] zitty, they're kind of greasy, same with cats. It's a no from me," she argued.

The video garnered plenty of internet attention, amassing over 500,000 likes and over 24,000 comments from dog lovers responding to the rankings on the list.

Another chimed in, "Our doodle is awesome too! We adore him. We sometimes think he's too good to be true. Feel so lucky to have him."

However, many users agreed with Dr Terrell's rankings, with one writing, "100 per cent agree with all of this as a previous vet tech."
