Vet rules out seven baby names based on pets he's treated

There are some names many people wouldn't name their pet because they are too human-like.

I imagine you would be hard pressed to find a dog or cat named Keith, Craig, Jeanette or Julie. These names are often reserved for humans and not our furry counterparts.

But what happens when it's the other way round?

Are there names specifically reserved for man's best friend that we wouldn't name our children?

For one vet, this is absolutely the case.

In a TikTok video, Ben the Vet has revealed a list of banned baby names after treating countless pets at his day job.

Ben refuses to give his future children these names because they remind him of animals he has treated.

"I'm a vet and because so many of my furry patients have these names they went straight on the no list of baby names for my kids," he wrote in the video caption.

The seven names on his 'no list' are Millie, Milo, Barney, Bella, Reggie, Poppy and Oscar.

In the caption, Ben continued saying that: "Milo for [him] will forever be a cat name."

This sparked a conversation in the comment thread with many TikTok users chiming in with the names they could never use for their own kids.

"My first dog was Lucy, it will always be just a dog name to me," one user commented.

"Lola and Luna are ones I [associate] with animals more than humans," another wrote.

Some agreed with Ben's list of banned baby names.

"Omg finally someone gets that Milo is a pet name," they wrote. "Whenever I meet someone named Milo all I can think of is my cat with the same name."

"I loved Oscar as a baby name for years until someone told me it's more of a dog name," another commented.

Others believed that the names he listed are perfectly suitable baby names.

"My children are Daisy, Poppy, Lily and Blossom ... none of them are pets, just little humans," one wrote.
