Three foods dogs shouldn't eat even though they aren't toxic to them
As pet owners, we often enjoy sharing our meals with our dogs, especially as they are so good at guilting us with their pleading eyes (my dog pulls out a complete trick repertoire when he hears the toaster!).
While sharing our meals with them is tempting, we need to be mindful of what they eat as not all human foods are safe for dogs.
Here are three foods that are not considered toxic to dogs, but shouldn't be fed to your furry friend, no matter how much they beg for a bite.

Baked beans
A small amount of baked beans is unlikely to harm your dog, but you should refrain from regularly feeding your dog baked beans or giving them a large amount.
Baked beans have many added ingredients to make the sauce tasty. As a result, they are high in sugar and salt, which are not healthy for dogs, and other seasonings can cause digestive upsets resulting in flatulence and /or diarrhoea.
Bacon
Many dogs get excited by bacon, and while it's not considered "toxic" to dogs, it is incredibly high in fat and salt.

A small piece here and there will usually be fine, but some dogs are sensitive to fatty foods and may vomit or have diarrhoea after even a tiny amount.
Fatty foods like bacon can trigger pancreatitis in dogs, which is severe and sometimes fatal.
Pickles
Pickles are made from cucumbers, and fresh cucumbers are considered safe for dogs. While pickles aren't necessarily harmful, they are full of sodium, which isn't ideal for dogs.

Pickles are essentially cucumbers preserved in a brine that's usually made of saltwater, vinegar, and various spices, hence their high sodium content.
If your dog eats the occasional pickle, they should be fine, but if they break into a jar and consume a lot of pickles, or drink a lot of pickle water, contact your vet.
