It's a happy ending for two puppies who were found abandoned, having been thrown over an animal shelter fence.

Jackson County Animal Shelter in Michigan, USA, have announced that the two white husky pups have been adopted, just two weeks on from the ordeal.

The shelter previously released security footage of the dogs being thrown over the fence of the shelter, with a truck pulling up to the fence and a person emerging from the passenger seat carrying both puppies.

The individual could be seen throwing the dogs over the shelter's fence one at a time before getting back into the truck and driving off.

The individuals in the video have since been identified by community members, and no charges have been filed against them.

Lydia Sattler, director of the animal shelter, said "If they would have just come to the door, we would have just taken the puppies in," in a comment to USA Today, adding that the shelter has a gate that "always remains unlocked.

"That would have been better than throwing the puppies over the fence."

The six-month-old puppies were dumped at the shelter with parasites, were very malnourished, and had head injuries. The male dog, weighing 3.6 kg was named Ryder by the shelter, whereas the female puppy, who weighed 4.9 kg, was named Reign.

One of them had an abscess that caused significant soft tissue swelling and bruising on top of its head, with the veterinarian examining them not able to determine the cause of the injury.

Within five days of being in the care of the shelter, the pups gained weight and were sent to a foster home once the vet had cleared them. On Friday, the shelter announced that the puppy siblings have found their forever home and will be living together.
