Firefighters called in to rescue dog who managed to get stuck inside a couch

A little dog has been rescued from the last place any owner wants to find their pup; stuck in their reclining couch.

Bean, who lives with her family in Canada, managed to get her head wedged inside the reclining mechanism of one of her owner's couches this week.

Terrified for the pup, her owners immediately called the local fire department and minutes later five firefighters arrived to rescue Bean.

"We don't rescue cats out of trees anymore,... but we do occasionally rescue dogs out of reclining couches!" the department wrote on Facebook.

Fortunately, they were able to wiggle the pup free without any harm, and Bean is happily back to cuddling up on the couch, rather than in it.

Her owners were deeply thankful to the firefighters who rescued her, penning an emotional message that was shared to the department's Facebook.

"Really thankful for the Kamloops Fire Rescue team tonight... My dog Bean managed to get her neck trapped underneath and between the reclining framework of our couch. She was trapped and Kent and I couldn't move the couch without hurting her," it read.

"I called the Fire Department and within a few minutes a team of them showed up and dismantled the couch to get her out. They were really calm and really cared about Bean's safety. We are very thankful for a great crew in this city."

Comments flooded in praising the team who rescued Bean, one calling the firefighters "gentlemen in every sense of the word".

Bean's owners later shared a snap of the little dog looking happy while sitting on the couch.

Pet owners will do just about anything for their animals, from calling firefighters to rescue them from a couch, to paying a pretty penny to get them groomed.

But one dog owner was left horrified when their pooch came home from the groomers with a very unwelcome makeover.
