When it was revealed that the plant had been stolen, Audrey leapt into action and created a sign with a message for the thief.
The sign, which had an illustration of the plant and a sad Marbles, read: "To the person who stole our cat's pitcher plant ... Thanks a lot. He saved up his cat money to buy it ... we were going to teach him about growing plants. Now we have to teach him about thieves. Hope you are happy knowing you BROKE our cat's heart."

Still devastated, Marbles was recorded staring solemnly out of the window to where his prized possession once sat.
Thankfully, despite his heartbreak, California's UC Botanical Garden at Berkeley saved the day and helped Audrey pick out a replacement plant.
