Can dogs eat watermelon?

Yes, yellow and red watermelon are considered safe for dogs when given as a treat only. The rind and seeds have potential to cause digestive issues or intestinal blockage, so always remove first.

Watermelon has high sugar content so is not for diabetic dogs or dogs with sugar intolerance.

Watermelon is 92 per cent water, it's low calorie and good for hydration on a hot day. It can be fed in chunks, or pureed. It can also be frozen.

Remember, it should be fed in moderation and only as a treat.

Can my dog eat strawberries?

Yes, provided it is the fruit and not the leaves and stems. Strawberries are a good source of vitamin C and antioxidants and can be cut into bite sized pieces.

Too many strawberries can cause tummy upsets, so only give in moderation as a treat.

Strawberries have high sugar content, so are not appropriate for dogs with conditions such as diabetes.

Always chat with your vet if you have any questions about whether your dog can have strawberries.

Can my dog eat pickles?

No, most pickles are made from cucumbers that are soaked in a mixture of vinegar, water, salt, and sometimes other spices. While pickles are not considered toxic, they have a lot of sodium, which is not recommended for our canine friends.

If your dog accidentally consumes a small amount of pickles, it's probably not a major concern, but it's best to avoid intentionally feeding them pickles or any high-sodium, spiced, or flavoured human foods.

Can my dog eat blueberries?
