Healthy treats to give your dog that you'll find in your fridge

When it comes to healthy dog treats, it may surprise you that there are a few snacks both pooches and their owners can share.

Now, we're not talking about a sneaky 'one for you, one for me' from the chip packet while binging your shows. These options are definitely more on the healthy, natural side of snacks.

It should be noted that like humans, dogs can have reactions to foods, so owners should start with small portions and monitor their pups.

Blueberries

The subtle-sweet snack is a great treat for dogs big or small. The fruit is rich in antioxidants, minerals and fibre.

But remember this is a snack option, so avoid palming them a large portion. You're not using the blueberries as a treat replacement.

Green beans

Green beans are another great source of fibre for your pup. Your dog can eat these raw, steamed or boiled. Make sure to offer them to your pup without any seasoning. Plain is best.

Apple

A few slices of apple is also another great healthy treat for your dog. The fruit offers a great source of vitamin C and A.

Though, it's important to never feed your pooch the apple core, or seeds, as they can both be harmful to your dog.

Banana

Bananas are a great source of potassium for your pup's muscles, nerves and heart. Again, your dog may only have a snack size amount, say one to two slices.
