Touching viral video shows baby brought to tears by mother's powerful singing

Lucia Hawley

A baby has been brought to tears by his mother's singing voice in a touching video posted to TikTok.

Earlier this week, TikToker '@spiritual.realm' posted a sweet video of a mother singing 'Good Good Father' by Chris Tomlin, while spoon-feeding her baby son. Watch the clip above.

At first, the little boy smiles adoringly while watching on but as she continues his face grows emotional and he starts to get teary.

This achingly sweet reaction could be the result of a phenomena called "emotional contagion", Psychology Today reports. This occurs as a result of the human instinct to absorb and project the intense emotions that surround them.

Dr Siu-Lan Tan describes this reaction as something that is "essential to social functioning."

This can happen almost immediately from birth as babies observe and reflect the emotions around them — building their social and emotional intelligence.

Or, you know, maybe the baby in the clip is genuinely moved by his mother's singing.

The video has since gone viral, gaining over 206,000 views and nearly 4000 comments, as users express their awe over the adorable clip.

Many TikTok users were left emotional themselves after watching the video, with one person commenting, "One of the most beautiful things I've ever seen".

Another added, "Purest emotion ever. His mom has the voice of an angel."
