One fed-up mum has hit back at critics for "body-shaming" her twin baby girls in a TikTok video.

Alexis LaRue, from the US, has addressed her twin babies' size in multiple videos, but "body-shaming" critics were still not convinced, claiming that she edits her videos or that the children have a medical condition causing their abnormal size.

The mum explains that the twins were born at around 2.9kgs each, which is considered big for twins. They have always been in the upper 90th percentile and the mum insists they don't have any concerning medical issues.

"There is nothing wrong with my babies," LaRue asserts in a voiceover.

She then demonstrates what they look like close up to the camera, versus when they move away, showing that the babies look a "normal size".

"Everyone supports body positivity in adults, so you guys need to have that same energy for babies too," says LaRue at the end of her video.

In an earlier video, the mum, who posts under @themejiafamily hit back and said: "Imagine telling a seven-month-old baby that they need to watch what they eat.

"That's crazy. I could never."

Many people leapt to the defence of the mum and her babies' size.

"Why are people so cruel! Your twins are beautiful and adorable. Healthy little ones," commented one person.

"The fact that people are bullying babies on the internet makes me lose all hope in humanity," said another.

"It's the angle of the camera people! And I think she's on the smaller side as well," said one commenter.

"Forced perspective! It's such a basic manipulation but people still don't know how to identify it," added another.

But others were still not convinced.

"I don't think people were body shaming babies. I think they had medical concerns," said one commenter.

However, LaRue insists that she has "said many times that they don't have medical concerns. Also most people are actually making rude comments rather than concerned comments."

"They look like the two things from Alice in Wonderland," commented one person, referring to Tweedle Dum and Tweedle Dee.

"She actually dressed them up as those characters for Halloween," responded another.
