Tammin Sursok shares pain of miscarriages: 'I was so lonely'

9Honey Parenting

9Honey Parenting Columnist and mum-of-two Tammin Sursok has spoken about the loneliness she felt as she suffered multiple miscarriages between welcoming her two daughters, Phoenix and Lennon.

"I was so lonely. I was pregnant for two-and-a-half years and no one knew about it and I had social anxiety," she said. "I was pregnant, then I wasn't pregnant, then I was pregnant again, then I wasn't pregnant."

Sursok believes the tradition of keeping pregnancy a secret during the first trimester means there is no support for a woman if she suffers a loss.

"It's a really lonely place to be and it's really isolating," she said.

Sursok said if she was to fall pregnant again she will be announcing the pregnancy before the three month mark.

"Why is it something that has to be kept quiet?" she said.
