Serena Williams 'cried' after missing daughter Olympia's first steps

Playing at Wimbledon comes at a price when you're a new mother.

Serena Williams says she missed her daughter Olympia's first steps while she was practicing at the All England Club on Saturday.

Williams tweeted : "She took her first steps... I was training and missed it. I cried."

And it seems mother's from all across the globe could relate, with the post quickly going viral getting over 21,000 likes and over 3,000 comments.

Most were trying to comfort the tennis pro and telling her it "happens to all us working mums" and there'll be "plenty more firsts" to see.

"Awww, how sweet. missing things happens to all us working mums. don't worry. you'll be there for more firsts!" one person replied.

"You didn't miss it, mommy. You facilitated it. Your child still lives right there. Make those happy tears & I mean it," another said.

"Don’t beat yourself up over it. You’ll miss a lot of firsts yet, but you’ll see plenty too. Nobody but you is her mum, you’ll be together whenever it counts most!"

While another re-assure the new mum sometimes being present doesn't guarantee catching a glimpse.

"I missed first steps because a grandparent was standing in front of me!! I was right there and still missed it."

While other fans joked it was Olympia's way of training for Wimbeldon.

"Sounds like Olympia is starting here training too!  Mommy win Wimbledon and show her that all that training pays off!"

"Take vindication by winning Wimbledon...hugs," another replied, while others said: "bless you! I hope it was recored. Go and win Wimbeldon as some sort of consolation!"

Williams became a mother in September and missed last year's Wimbledon because of her pregnancy.

She's back looking for her eighth title at the tournament and reached the fourth round on Friday.

She has brought Olympia with her, and a photo on the baby's Instagram account last week showed her sitting on one of the grass courts.
